Public Works Full Time Job Description

The laborer performs routine manual tasks in the Department of Public Works. The Laborers work primarily in park maintenance, snow removal, and other related areas. Work involves the use of manual tools, power tools, and some heavy equipment. Assignments are carried out in accordance with standard departmental practices and procedures, and instructions, which are given and closely checked by the Public Works Supervisor and Borough Manager.

Essential Functions

Duties include, but are not limited to:

· Standing for long periods of time.

· Able to lift up to 60 pounds.

· Withstand temperature changes and weather conditions.

· Park maintenance.

· Perform landscaping work. Which includes but limited to, mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, trimming shrubbery, and trimming trees.

· Plowing streets, Borough owned parking lots and sidewalks.

· Clean and repair tools and Borough machinery.

· Maintain and keep the Public Works vehicles and garage area clean and organized.

· Perform street patching and pothole repair work.

· Assist in leaf collection.

· Assist in stormwater catch basin maintenance.

· Perform duties as assigned in a timely manner.

· Be willing to work independently and as a team.

· Be willing to respond to weather events and natural disasters.

· Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Public Works.

Qualifications Requirements

· High School diploma/GED required.

· Must be 18 years of age.

· Must posses and maintain a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.

· CDL is not required but preferred.

· Must submit and pass a pre-employment drug test.

Schedule

· 8 hours Shifts.

· Monday to Friday.

Wages

· $20.55 with shift differential when applicable.
