Job Description: As a highway maintainer you will play a crucial role in the upkeep and maintenance of our borough’s streets, sidewalks, and related infrastructure. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including road construction, road maintenance, and other public initiatives. Responsibilities:
· Perform various construction tasks, such as hand digging, excavation, concrete pouring, asphalt paving, and heavy equipment operation
· Perform routine maintenance and repairs on streets, sidewalks, catch basins, and drainage pipes
· Operate and maintain various construction equipment and vehicles used in street maintenance, such as plows, sweepers, dump trucks, backhoes, and excavators
· Participate in snow removal operations during winter months
· Respond to service requests from residents and address their concerns professionally
· Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment
· Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete tasks efficiently and effectively
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Valid CDL driver’s license with a clean driving record
· Previous experience in street maintenance, construction, or related field
· Knowledge of construction techniques, equipment, and safety procedures
· Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
· Ability to operate various construction equipment and tools
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
· Excellent teamwork and communication skills
· Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary
