POSITION TITLE: Full Charge Bookkeeper
REPORTS TO: Assistant Controller
FLSA: Non-Exempt/Hourly
JOB DESCRIPTION: Detail oriented and organized Bookkeeper responsible for managing all duties related to general accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll. Assists in month-end closing activities and evolving accounting processes. This position will be assigned to one or more distinct companies of the business, particularly those related to the restaurant and retail industry.

- Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
- Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
- Perform related data entry with accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare customer statements, bills and invoices.
- Post customer payments by recording cash, checks and credit card transactions.
- Process paperwork for new employees and enter information into payroll system.
- Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
- Provide high quality, professional customer service support to internal and external customers.
- Maintain organized accounting reports and files.
- Perform general office duties, such as filing, answering telephones and handling routine correspondence.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- General experience in accounting required; retail accounting experience preferred with specific knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems
- Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software required
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated ability to accurately enter, track, and analyze data
- Proficient math skills as related to position
- Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Strong verbal/written communication skills
- Proven ability to work both independently and as a part of a team
- Related experience in restaurant/golf course industries preferred
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree in accounting or related field preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires sitting, standing, and walking, potentially for long periods of time, as required by the task. A large share of work is completed using standard computer/office equipment. Occasional lifting related to role of up to 25 pounds.
Borton & Sons, Inc. is a 12‐month, two‐shift facility which can require occasional and seasonal overtime.
