What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Staff Member position at Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem (NH)?
Working at summer camp is the most fun you will ever have at work! You’ll make lifelong friends, be a role model for our campers, learn more about yourself as a leader, and develop positive, productive relationships with members.
Summer camp staff members are responsible for executing and overseeing daily recreational activities for Club members, which are consistent with the organization’s youth development mission and goals.
Qualification requirements:
Must be able to commit to all weeks of camp, including all training, setup and break-down days.
Must have a current CPR and First Aid card or be willing to acquire one.
Possess the skills necessary for the supervision of youth between the ages of 6-12.
Must be at least 16 years of age to apply and be willing to complete all trainings set forth by supervisors
Principle Responsibilities:
Coordinate daily & weekly activities for youth creating a fun, exciting place for youth to learn.
Aid in the development, planning and implementation of theme days and Special Event activities.
Assist in supervising weekly field trips.
Ensure that all programs and activities are organized and conducted in a safe and professional manner and are reflective of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem philosophies and expectations.
Comply with rules and regulations of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem NH.
Establish communication links between members, parents and Program Coordinator.
Develop new, fun and exciting activities for youth different each week.
Gain an overall knowledge of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem NH operations in order to adequately fill in during other staff absences.
Assist with the implementation and enforcement of discipline and safety policies/procedures regarding participant safety, risk-management and building security.
Attend all staff meeting and trainings when requested.
Be prompt when arriving to work and communicate with Program Director when tardy or absent.
Provide support to youth and families at all times.
Adapt to changes in schedule and weather.
Maintain a clean and safe camp setting.
Other tasks as assigned.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing requirements of this job, employee is frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must be willing and able to do all activities throughout the day, participation is required in 75% of all activities.
