POSITION TITLE: Director of Development
DEPARTMENT: Resource Development
REPORTS TO: Chief Development Officer
SALARY/FLSA STATUS: Exempt, Full Time
ORGANIZATION MISSION:
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast and Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay is to provide high-quality, out-of-school Club experiences to ensure our young people, especially those who need us most, are on track to graduate from high school with a plan for their future, demonstrate good character & citizenship, and live a healthy lifestyle.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the success of resource development strategies and activities that includes creating, planning, and managing initiatives in areas including but not limited to major gifts, annual giving, special events, communications, and stewardship. Work with professional staff and program staff to lead and direct significant major gift fundraising to secure philanthropic support for capital, endowment, and programs as well as articulated Club projects and initiatives outside of, but carefully aligned with, the Club's annual operations. Work with the Chief Development Officer and the resource development team to implement a multi-million-dollar, multi-year resource development strategy and monitor progress against goals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects that requires a systematic approach of personal visits and outreach
- Develop written proposals, letters and other communications for individuals, and corporations.
- Provide consistent follow-up after meetings, events and other activities to secure commitments or move relationships forward
- Participate in a stewardship program in collaboration with the resource development team.
- Demonstrate a passion for the importance and urgency of furthering the Club's mission
- Participate and assist in coordination with the Resource Development Committee
- Provide staff support to special projects, advisory boards and campaign committees as assigned.
- Assist with gathering donor reports to build out multitiered strategies
- Increase visibility of Club development activities, maintain good public relations
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or as assigned
- Researches and analyzes agency, corporate, and individual donor base for solicitation strategies
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- A minimum of 5 year’s work experience in non-profit agency operations, specifically in the fund-raising field, sales/marketing, or equivalent experience.
- Considerable knowledge of fund-raising techniques, and sources of funding for nonprofit agencies and organizations.
- Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures as well as the principles and practices of non-profit organizations; youth development services preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate fund-raising operations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies.
- Knowledge of accessing donor data base.
TRAVEL:
Travel will be required to multiple Club facilities throughout surrounding counties for training and/or other business purposes.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate - high. Flexibility to working schedules may be required due to changing needs. Hybrid schedule available. Some meetings will be in Pinellas County, with travel to surrounding counties
