PURPOSE/FUNCTION OF PROGRAM:
Boys & Girls Village offers an array of services for at-risk children and their families. The services include a comprehensive range of behavioral health services including clinical treatment, therapeutic day school, permanency planning, and vocational, delivered from multiple locations. The Human resource department plays a pivotal role in the development and implementation of the agency’s strategic plan. The Human Resources Department interacts with all agency staff including all leadership and management to hire, develop, and engage our talent.
II. POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with other members of the HR team supporting the overall mission of the organization. This position carries responsibilities in the following functional areas: HRIS, Workers' Compensation, and Performance Management.
III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain Paylocity HRIS system to include entering weekly new hires, transfers, and promotions. Troubleshoot errors and problem solve with HR Recruiter and manager if needed.
- Processes worker’s compensation claims utilizing incident reports, entering first report of injury, follow up with employee Occupational Health Centers and monitor employee progress/release to full duty status.
- Maintains injury and Loss run reports for OSHA logs and 300A reporting.
- Reconcile/validate employee data entry to ensure data integrity, and support routine reporting requests. This includes running monthly reports.
- Maintain employee electronic records, and process employee status changes in the HRIS system in a timely fashion.
- Perform supervisor orientation training as it relates to Performance Management, Workers' Compensation, and other training as assigned.
- Manages the performance management system by assigning performance evaluations for 90 days, annual reviews, tracking, running reports, manager/employee notifications and monitoring evaluations until completion.
- Oversee and assist the performance management system process and assists managers with Paylocity technical support.
- Work with managers to ensure that annual performance reviews are conducted and processed on a timely basis, including creating and updating review templates.
- Notify new hires with monthly email notifications regarding Connecticut mandatory Sexual Harassment law.
- Participates in HR events to include coordination of activities.
- Serve as a member of the Safety Committee to report safety concerns, trends and attend other committees as assigned.
- Complete Department of labor requests for information on a timely basis.
- Completes additional projects as needed.
IV. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years HR experience.
- Must be organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
- Must be familiar with Excel, Microsoft Office, HRIS, and business-related software.
- Must be able to handle highly sensitive and confidential information discreetly.
V. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Paylocity or similar HRIS.

- Must be able to get up and down stairs and travel around campus.
