The Compliance and Human Resources Specialist will faithfully support Bradenton Christian School’s mission statement to prepare the hearts and minds of God’s covenantal children in partnership with the home and church for service in God’s world. It is the Compliance and Human Resources Specialist’s responsibility to carry out the policies of the School Board as they relate to the function of the school, to the classroom, and to their association with students and parents.
Summary:
The Compliance and Human Resources Specialist is responsible for supporting the day-to-day compliance and human resources operations of the organization. This team member works closely with administration, faculty, and staff, to support the mission and values of the school.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Human Resources/Talent Management
- Supports all phases of the talent acquisition process including, but not limited to, posting positions, screening applications and resumes, facilitating the interview process, and supporting candidate management and communication through use of the applicant tracking system. Facilitates the offer and on-boarding processes for all new hires while maintaining compliance with established policies and processes.
- Coordinates the off-boarding process to ensure a seamless transition for exiting employees.
- Responsible for employee benefits and payroll administration, and supports related employee inquiries; serves as the primary backup for payroll and benefits processing as needed.
- Serves as the first point of contact for faculty and staff on employment-related matters; escalates issues to appropriate designated team members.
- Completes data entry into HRIS and reconciles data for accuracy.
- Assists with tracking of certification and in-service requirements and reports.
- Maintains records of professional development in employee files (corporate & individual).
- Responsible for the coordination and completion of all volunteer background checks and screenings through the FDLE.
- Maintains personnel files and records in physical and electronic form.
- Assists with other HR duties as assigned.
Compliance and Reporting
- Management of student insurance including recordkeeping of accident reports and assisting parents with insurance if needed.
- Maintains Florida Department of Education’s certification and renewal process requirements including School Choice.
- Manages and ensures compliance with all organization accreditations and memberships including, but not limited to, Christian Schools of Florida (CSF), Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSACS), Christian Schools International (CSI), Association of Christian Schools International (ASCI), etc.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with school policies and federal/state employment laws and regulations.
- Collects, maintains, and updates HR-related metrics and key performance indicators (KPI’s) designed for process improvement and leadership reporting.
- Monitors compliance for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) by working with the Director of Admissions.
- Coordinates responses for all records requests from internal and external stakeholders.

- Florida Agency for Health Care Administration
- FALCON/FINS
- Field Print
- Christian Schools of Florida (CSF), Christian Schools International (CSI), Association of Christian School International (ACSI)
- Florida Department of Education
- Raptor Technologies
- All other systems as may be identified.
Document Management
- Maintains electronic and paper documents for the following:
- Handbooks and Policies (holder not author)
- Physical and Electronic Employment and Volunteer Records
- Board Policy Manual
- Organization By-laws
- Accreditation Documents and Reports
- Personnel files including certifications, in-service and professional development completed by personnel
- Employee Safety Protocols
- Critical Response Plan
- Organizational Chart
- Employee/position job descriptions
- All operating compliance, license and inspection records (e.g. elevator inspection and permit to operate, fire inspections, health inspections, etc.)
- Fire and emergency lock down drill standards and annual compliance for drills completed
- All other documents as may be identified.
- Ensures documents are maintained in a manner to ensure safety from potential unplanned destruction or damage while easily accessible.
- Develops and maintains an electronic filing system for all organization documents.
- Develops and administers the organization’s record retention and disposition schedules; monitors and maintains compliance with regulations governing the management of records.
- Provides for the preservation, maintenance and retrieval of essential archival, and permanent records.
- Ensures record privacy, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance.
- Ensures records are readily available for re-use, regulatory review, audit, and litigation.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- A clearly articulated testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior along with weekly in-person attendance in a Christian church.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. SHRM-CP preferred.
- Minimum of three years of HR administration experience, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information while upholding strong Christian values. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with attention to detail required.
- Must be a team player with a desire to help and serve others.
- Effectively communicates and collaborates with all members of the community.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. at a time.
