Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Dispatcher to join our team! This position will be based out of our Starke, FL office. This position will be responsible for the dispatch of all emergency medical calls, including but not limited to: pre-planning for incoming calls, routing emergency calls to the appropriate personnel, and pre-screening incoming patients. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the emergency care model and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate person.
Screen patients and coordinate with medical staff when necessary.Provide accurate information in a timely manner.Screen patients for admission when necessary.Assist with patient scheduling as needed.Perform routine data entry duties.Perform other duties as assigned.Experience:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure with a high volume of calls per hour.Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
1. Description of Position:
Accountable for receiving and processing both emergency and non-emergency calls by; providing appropriate instructions; entering accurate data into a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system; evaluating situations and making decisions as to assist the needs of the public base on training and standard operating procedures, and agency guidelines; performing queries through the local public safety systems; operating assigned Communications and Radio Positions and/or Fire/Rescue.
Within one (1) year of hire, the Telecommunicator must complete training along with state DOH certifications for telecommunications.
2. Special Requirements:
a. Required to report for duty and shelter-in place during emergency/disaster situations.
b. Attend training/meetings outside of work hours.
c. Work rotating shifts that include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
d. Attend scheduled work periods during mandatory over time due to unexpected staffing shortages.
e. Respond to work with short notice in the event of an emergency/disaster.
f. DOH certificate
3. Work Conditions:
Work is performed in a secure/restricted environment with specialized equipment. Exposer to stressful conditions when communicating with a distraught caller, victim(s) of crime(s), and violent/hostile individuals may occur. Noise level can become high at any given time with loud sounds, tones, and alarms. Work hours and shifts vary with possibility of extended shifts.
4. Training:
Hands on training can take a period of up to three to six months.
Successfully completion of hands-on training will result in enrollment into the (DOH) 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator License Program.
Finally, enrolment into the Emergency Priority Dispatch Program; to become EMD/EFD (emergency medical dispatch/emergency fire dispatch) certified.
5. Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
Ability to type 35 CWPM
Ability to pass a drug screening.
Ability to pass a background check.
2 Years experience working 911
6. Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to view multiple computer screens for extended periods.
Ability to speak clearly and adequate hearing to communicate and respond appropriately to in the work environment.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
