What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electric Motor Winder position at Brandon and Clark, Inc.?
Position Overview: The Electric Motor Winder is responsible for assisting in the inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and rewinding of electric motors and other electro-mechanical equipment. This position requires adherence to industry standards and safety protocols as outlined by the Electrical Apparatus Service Association (EASA). This is an entry level position and reports to the Winding Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities (Under the guidance of a Journeyman Winder or Master Winder)
- Assist in using all electrical test equipment.
- Learn about preparation and operation of VPI (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation).
- Learn to be proficient at the operation of the core loss tester.
- Learn to be proficient at preparing motors for the burnout oven.
- Assist with collecting winding data.
- Learn to recognize winding connections.
- Be proficient at stripping and cleaning motors.
- Be proficient at setting up and using different coil winding machines.
- Be proficient at making stator iron repairs.
- Complete EASA (Electrical Apparatus Service Association) Vo-Tech program (Volumes 1-2-6-8).
Qualifications:
- Mechanical ability and/or experience.
- Must have manual dexterity to work with detailed wiring, sometimes in small spaces.
- Have a basic set of tools at work.
- Be able to work 40 hours per week (excluding holidays and PTO) on a regular basis.
- Be available to work additional hours for special needs such as a rush jobs for customers.
- Previous electrical motor winding experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy components (up to 50 lbs.) occasionally.
- Ability to stand, crouch or kneel for extended periods.
Work Environment:
· This role involves working inside, in a motor shop environment with exposure to mechanical, electrical, environmental hazards and various temperatures.
· Travel not anticipated for this position.
