OVERVIEW
The Wellness Coordinator reports to the Wellness Manager and supports the overall performance of the
Wellness Department. This role involves helping to support team members, ensure the quality and
availability of products, maintain exceptional customer experience, and meet sales goals. The Wellness
Department Coordinator will train, develop and redirect Wellness staff, all with efforts to create an
engaging and welcoming store environment.

- In coordination with the Wellness Manager assist in providing clear direction, training, and guidance to ensure adherence to BFC and department procedures and protocols within theWellness team

Provide feedback, and report
any concerns or issues as necessary with the Wellness Manager - Celebrate and recognize team member successes
- Keep staff up to date and informed of key business information, policies, and updates. Help maintain departmental communication systems that encourages staff participation
PURCHASING
- Replenishes, purchases and assists with the selection and placement of products , including generating and submitting manual and auto-orders throughout the HABA, supplements and herbs areas of the department
- Supports the housewares area of the department as needed
- Supports department objectives for sales and margin by purchasing product and assuring acceptable inventory levels
- Delegates ordering and replenishing responsibilities as needed
- Keeps updated with latest wellness trends, including attending researching and attending relevant trade events
- Evaluates suppliers and investigates new sources of supply according to established procedures
- Negotiates with brokers/reps/producers/suppliers and with guidance from department manager for favorable prices, terms, quality and delivery
- Establish and coordinate promotions for the most compelling assortment and timing
- Research new products and suppliers in accordance with industry trends
POS AND TECHNOLOGY
- Creates and maintains inventory data to allow for optimal auto-ordering within POS system
- Help ensure all product information is entered in the POS system according to the item entry standards established by the Pricing Manager
- Partnering with Wellness Manager and Pricing Manager, maintains accurate up to date costs of items in POS system, including pricing product competitively to achieve margins and sales goals as set by department manager
- Partnering with Wellness Manager and IT Department, maintains sale pricing in POS, according to Co-op Deals as well as in store sales schedules
- Performs periodic sales reports to identify shrink, analyze sales, and eliminate slow sellers
- Prints shelf tags, labels, and product information as needed
- Utilize software and tools necessary to perform the work of their department as defined by the
- Store or General Manager in accordance with BFC policies and procedures
- Trains and develops Wellness staff in use of POS System
MERCHANDISING
- Partner with the Merchandising Manager and Wellness Manager to develop and implement compelling in store product merchandising and assortment including endcap, off shelf, and seasonal/holiday displays
- Partner with Marketing and Community Relations and Wellness Manager to coordinate in-store marketing
- Receives orders in accordance with established procedures
- Ensures shelves and cooler are fully stocked without crowding and rotated for freshness.
- Ensures that shelf tags, signage, and labeling are accurate and displayed properly and that shelves, displays, cooler, aisles and storage areas are in clean, orderly condition
- Participates in and delegates staff in stocking, organizing and cleaning the department
- Partnering with Wellness Manager and Pricing and Marketing Departments, determines sale items, makes or requests sale signs, coordinates sales, and ensures informative signage is correct
- Partnering with Wellness and Merchandising Managers, plans and executes endcap and seasonal displays, including cross-merchandising
PROCESSES
- Reviews invoices for pricing and discount accuracy, logs, codes and submits by deadline
- Assists in managing mis-picks and credits to ensure timely refunds/payments
- Participate in development of all relevant standard operating procedures and practices
- Participate in and ensure adherence to established processes for coordinating appropriate levels of backstock
- Assists in coordinating the receipt and storage of special orders, ensuring prompt notification to customers
- Participate in quarterly inventory counts with support from department and Store Manager
1-2 years experience purchasing required, preferably in a retail grocery environment
- Experience training, coaching, developing, and leading a team required
- Co-op experience, or experience in the natural and organic grocery industry preferred
- 1-2 years experience with natural supplements and/or bodycare products preferred
- Educational background in nutrition, herbalism, aesthetics, or related field preferred
- Experience in merchandising product in a retail setting
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Highly computer literate, with experience in word processing, spreadsheet usage, and POS systems preferred
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, kneel and squat throughout the day
