Bread Alone's Human Resource & People Manager is a hands-on administrative leadership role responsible for all aspects of the employee lifecycle, from onboarding to retention and development. This role ensures HR compliance, manages HR administrative workflows, and fosters a positive and productive work environment aligned with Bread Alone's values and culture.
This role serves as a vital link between our team members and operational leadership, ensuring alignment between employee needs and business objectives. As the Human Resource People Manager you will lead initiatives dedicated to fostering engagement, development, and performance while ensuring policies and procedures reflect our values. From enhancing onboarding and streamlining workflows to driving strategic projects, you will play a crucial role in creating an environment where talent is supported, empowered, and inspired to evolve with Bread Alone.

The Human Resource & People Manager reports directly to the Vice President of People Operations.
Hours: This is a full-time, in-office position, Tuesday–Saturday AM workflow with a minimum of 40–50 hours per week. We strive to make schedules as manageable as possible to encourage and allow work-life balance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties, responsibilities, and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Leadership & Strategic Impact
- Serve as a key leader within the People team, fostering collaboration and alignment with the company vision
- Position People Department as a business-facing COE and elevate our profile service levels
- Oversee the daily HR operations ensuring alignment with the company and department objectives
- Inspire, coach, and develop a high-performing team of People, Professionals and Specialists, cultivating a culture of excellence, ownership/accountability, and continuous growth
- Partner with leadership to shape the People Department into a strategic enabler of business success, aligning operations with our objective to empower employees and strengthen performance
- Lead efforts to simplify processes, remove friction, and create scalable systems that align with our objective to become a strategic business partner
Compliance
- Drive the employee relations process, investigating unique situations, providing guidance to employees and managers throughout the process while ensuring internal and external regulations are upheld
- Ensures Bread Alone is in compliance with local and federal labor laws by regularly reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures to align with legal requirements, company standards, and industry regulations
- Implement and educate the team on HR policies, practices, and procedures, ensuring clear guidance on topics such as leave types, the termination process, and other key employment matters
Onboarding
- Reimagine the onboarding experience to make it a BIC program that inspires, informs, and engages new hires from day one, accelerating their integration and impact to Bread Alone.
- Design and implement innovative onboarding tools, training, and touchpoints that reflect Bread Alone values and support long-term retention
- Support in tracking key onboarding metrics to measure effectiveness and continuously improve the experience
Employee Engagement
- Lead and participate in HR initiatives such as performance management, department planning, employee engagement, and employee development
- Partner with the Payroll Specialist to educate and distribute information about perks and benefits
- Coordinate, promote, and attend internal events, such as annual gatherings, community service activities, and recognition for new hires, promotions, and ESOP share reveal
- Communicate initiatives and trainings to employees through various communication resources including calendars, meetings, internal HRIS posts, and the Bread Alone employee newsletter
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience driving multiple HR functions
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable State and Federal employment laws and general HR practices
- Significant hands-on experience with HRIS and compliance systems
- Solid business acumen and analytical skills
- Ability to resolve conflict, deliver difficult messages, and address all people-related issues
- Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and senior leadership presence
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of performance and results for self and team
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-through
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen, learn, and disseminate information with consistent brand language and aesthetics
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and define direction and solutions in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
- Respect for and comfort with a diverse and inclusive workplace

- Availability to work consistently throughout the year, including holidays and weekends, as the bakery is open 365 days a year
Job Type: Full-time, exempt
Compensation: Bread Alone is deeply committed to ethically balancing the demands of the business and paying a living wage to all those who contribute to our success. Pay for this position is $60,500 to $80,000 annually.
