PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS: Brenau University will conduct criminal background checks on all persons being considered for initial employment. In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Once employed, employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are performed. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be performed during the hiring process, or as part of a random check. MVR checks are required to meet insurance requirements for those employees operating a university vehicle or participating in any driving activity on behalf of Brenau University, (including operating a golf cart, rented vehicle or one’s personal vehicle). Employees who travel must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver’s license, and good driving record. All employees who operate university vehicles, who are employed in a sensitive position, or who travel regularly as part of their job responsibilities may be subject to post-hire drug screening and random drug-screening. All employees are subject to reasonable suspicion drug screening.

Position Summary:
The Office Manager serves in a support role to the Manger of Talent Acquisition and Associate Vice President for Human Resources.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent written communication skills;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Prior experience working in higher education a plus;
- Must demonstrate proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google Suite;
- Use of sound judgment in all situations and the ability to work with confidential information is imperative;
- Personal attributes: Must present a high level of professionalism and discretion; present strong interpersonal skills; be able to work independently; assess employees’ needs and react appropriately to their requests; have a strong desire to work with people; have excellent judgment regarding the prioritization of assigned tasks; be detail-oriented; have the ability to multi-task in an environment that can change daily; be committed to the core values and mission of the university.
Responsibilities:
- Be the main point of contact for Brenau University’s HR Office
- answering the HR main telephone line and returning voicemail messages promptly
- Process verifications of employment;
- Process onboarding for all new hires (adjunct faculty, permanent faculty, staff and students);
- Process separation paperwork for all employees (adjunct faculty, permanent faculty, and staff, and students);
- Co-host new hire meet and greet and campus tours as needed;
- Draft and prepare employee related correspondence and perform tasks such as word processing, copying, filing, scanning, faxing, retrieving mail, etc.;
- Sending out birthday emails on the day of employee birthday;
- Posting messages to update on service anniversaries of employees;
- Assist with Wellness related tasks and events;
- Complete other duties and projects as assigned by the AVP.
- Pick up nametags at least once weekly.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No supervisory responsibilities required.
Work Hours & Schedule:
Half-time. 20 hours per week. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department.

Gainesville Historic Campus/ on-ground position
Environmental and Working Conditions/ Physical Demands and Aptitudes:
Sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must have the ability to travel short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials. Exerting up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
