What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…
- As technical expert for product line, work with sales, customers and product managers to determine needs and refine into technical specifications.
- Partner with product managers, R&D, and product development to define and execute product line roadmap.
- Own product design and documentation and ensure manufacturing documentation is complete and accurate.
- Create and process engineering change requests and temporary design deviations to document changes to product design.
- Champion/support new product development and continuous improvement projects to enhance product performance, manufacturability, quality and reduce cost.
- Ensure design outputs and solutions implemented meet required internal and external specifications, industry codes and regulations, such as ASME, CGA, DOT.
- Manage definition, prioritization, and delegation of tasks to shared engineering resources.
- Create, manage or communicate timelines for completion of critical tasks and projects.
- Create/support design validation test plans and may conduct testing on components, assemblies and final products.
- Participate in initiatives toimprove product consistency and reduce variance and warranty claims by identifying and resolving potential defects.
- Apply best practices in engineering design and continuous improvement of those practices.
- Other duties and activities, as needed.
- BS Engineering degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, but will consider Aerospace, Materials Science, or Nuclear Engineering disciplines
- MS degree and/or MBA is a plus
Working Conditions
- Production factory support and office environment
- Minimal work-related travel may be required (approximately 15% or less)
- Frequent standing, sitting and walking
- Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional heavier lifting
- Frequent computer work
- Production floor environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, occasional flying debris, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors.
- Working with cryogenic products will involve possible exposure to pressurized flammable gas, pressurized oxidizing gas, pressurized inert gas and very low temperatures (-320º F).
Your Professional Experience Should Be…
- 3 years of related engineering experience
- Understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid flow, structures and mechanics of materials
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, sheet metal fabrication, machining and welding
- Proven ability to create and modify SolidWorks (or Inventor) CAD parts and assemblies and work in PDM Vault environment
- Highly motivated self-starter and team leader
- Demonstrated ability to plan and effectively manage multiple tasks
- Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams
- Some experience managing and/or developing product lines in small to mid-size companies
- Understanding of cryogenic liquids, compressed gases or refrigeration
- MathCAD or MATLAB
- JD Edwards, SAP or similar ERP systems
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) skills
