Summary

The Director of a daycare is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the facility, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. They lead and manage staff, maintain compliance with state regulations, and ensure high-quality care for all children. The director is also responsible for budget management, parent communication, and fostering positive relationships with staff, families, and the community. With a focus on early childhood development, the director ensures that programs are designed to meet the developmental, emotional, and educational needs of each child, while promoting a positive and supportive workplace culture.


Duties

  • Oversee Daily Operations
  • Manage the overall operations of the daycare, ensuring smooth day-to-day functioning.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
  • Staff Supervision and Development
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff, including teachers, aides, and other daycare personnel.
  • Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and address staffing needs or issues.
  • Compliance and Licensing
  • Ensure the daycare meets all local, state, and federal regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date records, including health and safety compliance documentation.
  • Curriculum and Program Management
  • Oversee the development and implementation of age-appropriate educational programs and activities.
  • Ensure that the curriculum aligns with developmental milestones and educational standards.
  • Budget and Financial Management
  • Develop and manage the daycare’s budget, ensuring proper allocation of funds.
  • Monitor expenses, revenue, and financial records to ensure the daycare operates within budget.
  • Parent Communication and Relations
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, addressing concerns, and providing regular updates on children’s progress.
  • Organize parent-teacher meetings and community events to foster engagement and involvement.
  • Facility Management
  • Oversee the maintenance of the daycare facility, ensuring it is clean, safe, and equipped with necessary materials and supplies.
  • Ensure that classroom environments are conducive to learning and play.
  • Marketing and Enrollment
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract new families and maintain enrollment.
  • Conduct tours for prospective parents and ensure enrollment procedures are smooth.
  • Promote a Positive Work Environment
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and collaborative atmosphere among staff.
  • Resolve conflicts and address any issues that may arise among staff, children, or parents.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records for each child, including enrollment forms, attendance, and incident reports.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies and ensure timely compliance with all reporting requirements.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 years of supervisory experience.
  • 2 years of direct professional experience in an early childhood setting.
  • High energy.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills; technology skills.
  • Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Strong finance and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must clear full background check.
