Description
Brook Plaza Ophthalmology is seeking a full time experienced Surgical Coordinator to join our large practice, in Brooklyn, NY.
Job duties include but not limited to:
General Job Responsibilities:
- Meet with patients to schedule surgeries
- Obtain authorization from insurance companies for surgeries
- Create EMR surgery encounters in patient charts
- Upload Op Reports to patient charts
- Utilize medical office software to book surgeries and document details
- Obtain all necessary medical clearance forms from patient’s other physicians
- Explain the cost of surgery and the financing options
- Communicate more premium lens options for patients
- Other duties as needed
$25 to $28 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule:
- Monday – Thursday (8:00 am – 4:30 pm)
- Friday (8:00 am – 2:00 pm)

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Surgical Coordinating: 2 years (Preferred)
- At least 1 year of experience working as a surgery scheduler and/or insurance authorization specialist
- Very strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Easy going personality
- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and ability to multitask
- Very good understanding of health insurance (co-pays, referrals, authorization)
- Able to work in a team environment and put patient needs first
- Experience with medical office software for scheduling appointments
- High school diploma or equivalent
