Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 6:00AM-4:30PM
Pay Range: $27.57-$ 45.48
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, provide thorough, proficient interrogation and re-programming in person, remotely, and/or via phone transmission to patients with cardiac implantable electrical devices (CIEDs). Responsible for initial device analysis, preliminary report generation, and alerting physician or non-physician practitioner to urgent issues requiring further attention.
Responsibilities:
- Interrogate, interpret, and re-program cardiac devices with minimal physician supervision.
- Trouble shoot critical device issues and take immediate steps toward resolution.
- Collaborate with physicians regarding device status and accurately document device analysis in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) for review.
- Educate patients on all aspects of their device including remote monitoring and follow-up protocol.
- Ensure charges are accurately captured for device interrogation.
- Schedule patients for device appointment follow up in EMR and remote website. Immediately contact “no show" patients to ensure they are re-scheduled.
- Assist nurses and non-physician practitioners in the delivery of patient teaching.
- Travel to associate offices for assigned device clinics.
- Participate in positive, proactive inter- and intra-departmental communication. Promote a healthy clinical environment and good working relationships.
- Serve as resource to physicians and other practice employees regarding device patients and services.
- Keep equipment in good working condition and notify appropriate personnel of problem areas or safety issues.
- Ensure programming rooms are adequately stocked with necessary supplies.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
- Expected to identify process improvement ideas and contribute to creating solutions.
Basic Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
- International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners device exam (IBHRE) or Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) from a recognized device training school preferred.
- Or two years of cardiac device (pacemakers/defibrillators) analysis and reprogramming experience.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and sensitivity to cultural diversity in each step of the care process.
Experience:
- Current experience reviewing and managing in person and remote device transmissions.
Work environment and physical requirements:
- Ambulatory care environment. Any potential hazard is minimized or nullified by adherence to established safety procedures and the use of protective clothing and equipment
- Working conditions are generally good, exposed to normal patient care environment when visiting patients and meeting with other healthcare personnel. Sits, stands, and walks throughout the day.
