This well-established organization is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Lead who will be responsible for leading the manufacturing engineering team to develop, implement, and support lean production processes. This role creates and controls manufacturing methods, CNC programs, and work instructions associated with manufacturing the products. They collaborate with cross functional teams to improve current processes, solve manufacturing issues, implement innovative solutions, and integrate new products into production.
Responsibilities
- Lead the manufacturing engineering team by managing engineering service requests, supervising and delegating the project workload.
- Manage projects from concept through implementation, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
- Work closely with production, quality assurance, and design engineering teams to improve processes and resolve production issues.
- Own the process design and development phase by ensuring the CNC programs, tooling, fixtures, gages, work instructions, setup sheets, and job routing are defined and controlled.
- Design, program, and fabricate any fixtures required for new product integration.
- Determine specifications for machine tooling as well as create and maintain the full production tooling library.
- Assist the shop floor with day-to-day manufacturing issues.
- Initiate and lead continuous improvement activities.
- Contribute to CapEx projects and assist management in specifying new equipment.
- Any other duties needed to help drive lean manufacturing efficiencies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; preferably manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering.
- Five years of experience in a related field. Some supervisory experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods, and processes used in CNC machining.
- Advanced skills in programming CNC equipment using CAD/CAM software.
- Familiar with ERP systems, work orders, and production flow.
- Understanding of bill of materials and job routings.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing tools and activities.
- Highly motivated with strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills..
