Kennel Manager
Buckeye’s Missions and Sanctuary
We are excited to have a hands-on, experienced, innovative, motivated, forward-thinking individual join our team as Kennel Manager. Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in a dog boarding facility or animal welfare agency and at least one year of experience in a supervisory role in the animal industry. He or she must also be skilled at managing a budget, people, customer service and diffusing challenging situations.
Candidates must enjoy working with and being around dogs, have compassion for dogs, have experience in handling multiple dogs in playgroups and on walks, be confident in handling multiple dogs in one setting, knowledgeable in basic dog body language and basic characteristics of common breeds. Some education in animal care is preferred.
Candidates must also have basic knowledge in dog hygiene as well as be equipped in handling simple hygiene requirements including but not limited to giving baths, trimming nails and cleaning ears.
Candidates must also be comfortable working in all weather conditions, be able to lift 50lb or more and perform some basic maintenance around the facility, train and supervise volunteers.
Occasion transport of rescue dogs to vet appointments may be necessary.
The manager is crucial in leading functions and employees to a successful operation.
To maximize efficiency and ensure ongoing success, the manager must demonstrate leadership qualities and incorporate the following into his/her practice:-
1. Lead projects
2. Develop strategies to ensure ongoing growth and success
3. Monitors the success of said projects
4. Enforce company policies and procedures
5. Operate on allocated budget
6. Prioritize expenses
7. Organizes and optimizes daily workflow and operations
8. Develop personnel and coach where needed
9. Ensure quality assurance
10. Work with the Marketing/Special Events Manager
11. Have experience using social media platforms
