About The Role
As an Estimator, you will play a key role in the pre-construction process, developing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction and tenant improvement projects. Working closely with the project management and business development teams, you will analyze project requirements, evaluate costs, and ensure all estimates align with client objectives and project goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial construction and tenant improvement projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and client requirements to identify cost drivers and opportunities for value engineering.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure accurate cost data.
- Develop and maintain detailed take-offs, quantity surveys, and cost breakdowns.
- Review and evaluate project plans to identify potential risks, discrepancies, or challenges, and provide recommendations to mitigate them.
- Assist in preparing bid packages, proposals, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
- Work closely with the project management team to ensure budgets are aligned with project goals and timelines.
- Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and market conditions to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
- Participate in client meetings, pre-bid walkthroughs, and post-bid reviews as needed.
- 3 years of experience in construction estimating, specifically in commercial construction and tenant improvement projects (experience with retail clients is highly desirable).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore, or similar tools).
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Familiarity with local building codes, permitting processes, and regulations in Texas (preferred).
- A proactive problem-solver with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
