POSITION SUMMARY:
The School Bookkeeper is responsible for many areas related to purchase orders, accounts payable, bank deposits, bank reconciliations, school payroll, school budgets and various other school accounting related duties. The responsibility of this position will be processing the areas listed above in an accurate and timely manner for the school system. This position will also involve following necessary accounting processes and procedures, federal and state laws, and school system policies and procedures. This position requires the ability to maintain deadlines and to manage a variety of tasks.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- At least three years in an accounting related field, such as bookkeeping.
- Experience and proficiency with computer applications.
- Possess the ability for attention to detail.
- Experience working with a diverse group of people.
- Embodies the core values of the district; relational, purposeful, reflective, resourceful, courageous and accountable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Business-related certifications.
- Business-related higher education degree.
- K-12 bookkeeping experience.
- K-12 experience working with CSI/Smart Fusion software.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains a working knowledge of the State Chart of Accounts.
- Processes deposits, journal entries and budget amendments on the accounting software.
- Reconciles vendor statements to payments and resolves problems with vendor statements.
- Maintains school/location activity accounts.
- Prepares school/location payroll reports.
- Manages field trip requests, deposits and payments.
- Performs monthly bank reconciliations.
- Manages and monitors all purchase order processes.
- Processes all county invoices for the school/location.
- Processes and pays all school/location invoices.
- Performs timely bank deposits and records all monies collected appropriately.
- Maintains accurate and timely accounting records for all school/location activity accounts.
- Performs weekly reviews of county and school/location activity account balances.
- Prepares monthly budget and financial reports for school principal/supervisor.
- Performs other duties as requested.
