Accounting Clerk - Law Firm Experience Needed

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Accounting Clerk with 2 years of experience in billing and new matter intake within a fast-paced law firm environment. The successful candidate will possess professionalism, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively. As an Accounting Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate financial processes, maintaining organized records, and contributing to the seamless functioning of the firm.

Accounting Clerk Responsibilities : New Matter Intake :

  • Review a high volume of new mater forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Enter new client / mater information into Juris, ensuring accurate completion of all client / mater fields.
  • Effect changes to client and mater records as requested, obtaining necessary approvals.

Billing :

  • Produce pre-bills on a monthly and ad-hoc basis. Review and edit pre-bills after attorney review.
  • Review and verify billing accuracy, including supporting documentation.
  • Submit electronic bills and promptly resolve any e-billing issues. Monitor for payment receipt.
  • Create and print final client invoices.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Update accounting records with issued invoices, new payments, and client information.
  • Prepare and mail account statements, address customer inquiries.
  • Accounts Receivable (A / R) :

  • Follow up with attorneys and clients on past due invoices by contacting them directly.
  • Process client credit card payments.
  • Maintain accurate records of client information and received payments.
  • Assist in resolving and managing account balances, addressing inconsistencies.
  • Miscellaneous :

  • Provide support for Accounts Payable tasks.
  • Assist with special projects and duties as assigned by management.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information at all times.
  • Accounting Clerk Qualifications :

  • High school diploma, some college preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in billing and new matter intake, ideally within a law firm.
  • Proficiency in using billing software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial and data entry tasks.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive client information.
  • Proficient in using legal research tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
