Byrne and Jones Construction is looking for a Design Engineer that is responsible for preparing design solutions for a diverse range of civil, industrial, and athletic facility projects. This role emphasizes collaboration with project teams to ensure high-quality design deliverables that meet both client and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed site plans that align with client visions and support marketing and business development efforts.
- Prepare drainage calculations for civil and athletic facility projects to ensure effective stormwater management and compliance with regulations.
- Assist in drafting and preparation of construction plans, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Develop layout plans and detailed construction documents to support effective project execution for management and field teams.
- Manage the permitting process, ensuring all necessary permits are obtained promptly to avoid delays.
- Review designs for accuracy and compliance with standards, addressing discrepancies before finalization.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to meet client needs and effectively incorporate feedback.
- Work closely with sales teams and project management teams to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
- Coordinate with varying divisions within Byrne & Jones to leverage expertise and resources across projects.
- Uphold high standards in all design deliverables, seeking opportunities for process improvement.
- Research industry trends and best practices to enhance project outcomes and efficiency.
- Attend internal and external meetings as needed to communicate project goals and timelines clearly.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, preferred but not required.
- 2-5 years of experience in civil engineering design.
- Proficiency in Civil 3D software.
- Experience with storm water management and site grading.
- Familiarity with surveying
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Comprehensive knowledge of design criteria, standards, and geometric design software.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Understanding of project management controls, including budgeting, scheduling, and client management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in civil construction.
