C. Herman Construction is seeking an HR professional to join our team! As one of the fastest growing construction companies in the southeast, we are excited to grow and cultivate our HR department. This position is ideal for early-career professionals looking to grow in the Human Resources field.
The HR Coordinator will play a key role in supporting and managing the day-to-day human resources operations within C. Herman Construction. This position is responsible for a wide-range of HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration and compliance. The HR Coordinator will ensure alignment with company policies and foster a positive and productive work environment for our employees.
This full-time position will be based in our Charlotte office headquarters with a Monday through Friday schedule.
Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Assist in creating and posting job descriptions on various platforms.
- Screen resumes, schedule interviews, and coordinate with hiring managers.
- Facilitate the onboarding process, including preparing new hire paperwork/equipment, assisting with orientation and ensure all paperwork is accurate and complete.
Employee Relations:
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding policies, benefits, and HR processes.
- Support the development and execution of employee engagement initiatives and events.
- Assist in maintaining a positive workplace culture aligned with company values.
Payroll & Benefits Administration:
- Coordinate employee benefits programs (health insurance, retirement plans, leave management, etc.) including annual enrollment, changes, and answering employee questions
- Assist with payroll preparation and address related questions from employees.
- Ensure compliance with compensation policies and participate in salary surveys or benchmarking as needed.
HR Administration/Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including FLSA, EEOC, ADA, FMLA, and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal requirements.
- Assist in preparing for audits or inspections related to HR practices.
- Generate reports and assist in analyzing HR metrics (turnover, headcount, retention etc.)
- Provide support in analyzing data to make recommendations for improving HR processes or policies.
Training & Development:
- Support training initiatives by coordinating employee development programs, managing materials and tracking attendance
Performance Management:
- Assist with performance management processes including goal setting, reviews, and feedback sessions.
- Support managers with employee development plans, coaching, and performance improvement strategies.
Additional Office & Administrative Duties (as needed)
- Provide administrative support to the Charlotte office as needed such as directing calls, managing correspondence, scheduling meetings, coordinating events, etc.
- Take on other duties or special projects as assigned to support the team and the overall operations of the company
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
- 2 years of experience in a human resources role with an understanding of HR practices and employment law
- Experience in employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, and performance management preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Vista Viewpoint (ERP) preferred, but not required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Certifications: PHR, SHRM-CP, or other HR certifications are a plus but not required.
