What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant III position at C0637 GFL Everglades Holdings LLC?
The Staff Accountant wil analyze General Ledger activity and prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations. Provide accounting support to Equipment services branch. Monitor all compaction equipment. Prepare all sales and use tax returns. Process wire transfer and bank account transfer requests. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare General Ledger journal entries and account reconciliations as assigned. • Coordinate posting of journal entries to the General Ledger. • Prepare all sales and use tax returns and filings. • Initiate bank wires, transfers and stop payments. • Monitor Positive Pay activity and obtain approval for activity that exceeds established limits. • Reconcile and maintain intangible assets. • Record fixed assets obtained thru acquisitions. • Monitor compaction equipment in Tower and JD Edwards. Insure that additions, deletions and transfers are tracked correctly in both systems. • Process all activity for repairs made by Equipment Services. Set up fixed assets, process transfers, prepare journal entries and reports and follow up on all issues related to branch activities. Monitor variances to budget and provide support for branch personnel. • Track and report unclaimed property in accordance with state escheatment rules. • Research unclaimed property held by states that belong to Company and file for reimbursement. • Coordinate annual fixed asset inventories according to schedule. Initiate transactions to adjust the fixed asset system to the actual inventory. • Run integrity reports and research any issues noted. • Complete complex accounting and process improvement projects as assigned. • Serve as backup to Financial Analyst II for Essbase and Hyperion financial reporting system administration. • Serve as backup to Financial Analyst II for JDE and Essbase chart of accounts maintenance. • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. • Conform in all respects with applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives. • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies: • Four year degree in accounting • 5 years of progressive accounting experience preferred. • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. • Accounting designation preferred. • Knowledge of GAAP and current accounting practices. • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. • Strong communication and organizational skills. • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. • Strong project management skills. Physical/Mental Demands: • Able to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, talk and hear. • Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
