The Consumer Use Tax Section’s work processes are production oriented so you will immediately recognize the results of your hard work. The position will challenge your organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Performing in-depth research on difficult and complex use tax cases.
- Reviewing and analyzing source information and exemption documents.
- Dealing with taxpayers and public officials under conditions requiring tact and good judgement.
- Conducting telephone and in person interviews with taxpayers.
- Preparing correspondence for taxpayer to request additional information.
- Entering clear and detailed comments related to actions taken.
- Providing advisory services to internal and external customers.
- Reviewing and analyzing source information and exemption documents.
- Requesting billings when tax is due.
- Reviewing responses to non-final billings.
- Preparing cases for the Petition Section, when warranted.
- Recommending cancellations, adjustments, and refunds when applicable.
