Position Summary
The Men’s Assistant Soccer Coach will assist the Head Men’s Soccer Coach with recruiting, assisting in practice and games for the College’s soccer team. The assistant coach will adhere to the general employee guidelines as specified by the Personnel handbook, the Vice President of Student Services, the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC), and the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Participate in the supervision of players on and off the soccer field.
- Recruit the best possible student athletes to Calhoun, preferably in North Alabama.
- Report all prevalent activities and actions to the head coach, athletic director and the president.
- Follow the proper chain of command with any relevant issues in the college.
- Maintain a proper working relationship with all faculty and staff at Calhoun.
- Assist with facilities that are used by the soccer team.
- Assist in organizing practices, game plans, and tournaments for the men’s team.
- Consistently monitor team equipment to ensure that it is properly used.
- Exemplify proper conduct for the student athletes and toward all members of the college and in the community.
- Organize, and/or assist with the men’s soccer program which includes camps, recruiting, hosting tournaments, strength and conditioning training, monitor player responsibilities, and any other duties assigned relating to the soccer teams.
- Participate in any indoor practice schedule and coordinate facility use with the women’s soccer coach and proper supervisors.
- Participate in fundraising activities for the soccer program and the athletic department.
- Provide competent instruction for the men’s soccer team.
- Participate in the indoor practice, weight training schedule and facility use with the other coaches in the Athletic Department.
- Provide academic and career advice to students and promote student leadership and enrichment experiences.
- Become familiar with institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the College Catalog, Personnel Handbook, and State Board Policy Manual; and follow such policies and procedures.
- Maintain and increase competency in the chosen specialty by seeking new knowledge, and improving teaching skills.
- Promote positive and productive relationships with service area businesses, industries, and agencies.
- Provide advice to the administration on matters pertaining to the soccer program.
- Perform other appropriate professional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
Qualifications
1. An Associate’s degree from an accredited institution is required.
2. A minimum of (1) year of experience successful teaching/coaching soccer and/or competitive soccer experience is required.
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments:
1. Demonstrated expertise in soccer coaching and recruiting.
2. Effective oral and written communication skills
3. Ability to work independently.
4. Ability to deal effectively with students, other employees, and the public.
5. Commitment to all students, including those of diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
6. Understanding of basic computer skills.
7. Ability to coordinate and assist in coaching the men’s soccer team.
8. Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise student athletes.
9. Knowledge of appropriate safety rules and regulations.
10. Knowledge of current coaching methods, collegiate eligibility standards, first aid, and sports medicine practices.
