NPS HPTC Build Up Visual Information Specialist

Position Details

Stewards Individual Placements (STE) provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. Participants work with federal agencies, tribal governments, and nonprofits building institutional capacity, developing community relationships, and supporting ecosystem health.

STE in partnership with the National Park Service (NPS) and Facilities Workforce Career Academy - Instructional Systems and Design Team are seeking an individual for an exciting new opportunity as a NPS Build Up Visual Information Specialist Intern. The Facilities Workforce Career Academy provides outstanding development opportunities for the facilities workforce within the National Park Service. The Instructional Systems and Design team has the responsibility of working with the various training programs within the FWCA to provide design and production services.

As a Stewards intern, you will work closely with Training Managers and Specialists, Instructional Designers, Subject Matter Experts (SME) and the National Park Service (NPS) Facility Maintenance (FM) Community to create and deliver NPS specific curriculum through custom media designed to meet the needs of today’s learners.

Interns will work as an integral part of the team to aid in producing various forms of media (video, audio, graphics, web components) to include in a variety of courses and learning tools that the team will be developing.

Identified Projects and Position Responsibilities include :

  • Assisting in analyzing graphics needs,
  • The production of needed graphics
  • Providing input on the best way to integrate these graphics into the learning elements.
  • Course Catalog
  • Development of eLearning elements
  • Development of Communications tools.

Through this opportunity, the intern will develop skills and understanding, as well as have person / professional development experiences in teamwork, facilitation, writing, communication, critical thinking, time management, Learning Management System, prioritization, organization, self-direction and the use of SharePoint sites.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Ages 18-30 (Up to 35 with veteran status documentation)
  • Responsibility and time management skills to handle remote supervision and remote work
  • Very strong communication skills (writing / editing)
  • Very strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to pass a federal background check
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Experience sourcing and modifying stock images, illustrations, and video illustrations to further convey the instructional message.
  • Creativity
  • Ability to work with graphics applications in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with video editing software
