Responsibilities
Either 1
One year of experience in the California state service performing professional auditing or accounting duties of a class with a level of responsibility not less than that of Staff Management Auditor or two years of professional auditing and accounting duties in a class with a level of responsibility not less than that of Associate Management Auditor.
Or 2
Five years of increasingly responsible auditing and accounting experience or management consultant experience which shall have involved the preparation of reports and presentations of recommendations to management. For at least one year, these responsibilities must include duties at a level equivalent to those of an Associate Management Auditor in State service. and
Education
Equivalent to graduation from college preferably with a major in accounting, business administration, public administration, or economics and with a minimum of six semester units of accounting.

Responsibilities
- Develop and communicate assignment scope, objectives, and budget requirements to assigned staff.
- Provide on-site field supervision and direction for assignments.
- Provide technical guidance and assistance to staff, clients, and others.
- Assist with maintaining client relations during the course of work.
- Ensure audit management software (TeamMate ) and tools such as tracking spreadsheets reflect the status of an assignment, is timely updated, is accurate, and is used to monitor assignment status such as timelines, budget data, and project dates.
- Effectively evaluate, monitor, and provide constructive and timely feedback to staff on employee performance.
- Assess staff skills and abilities to ensure proper training is provided for staff development.
- Assist with project development and monitoring to ensure accuracy and completeness of scope, objectives, and compliance.
- Calculate and monitor reimbursement and travel estimates for assigned projects.
- Testify and/or defend work products before legislative committees, courts, clients, auditees, Finance staff, and other interested parties.
