The Information Technology Manager I (ITM I) will lead the strategic development and implementation of information security initiatives across CalHHS departments, ensuring alignment with State and Federal mandates. This role involves collaborating with multiple departments to enhance security posture, manage compliance efforts, and support the integration of security technologies. The ITM I will play a pivotal role in driving the CalHHS agency’s information security strategy and policies.

Special Requirements

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
1.Ability to lead and manage cross-departmental information security initiatives that align with State and Federal mandates, ensuring compliance and promoting a strong security posture across the organization.

2. Strong knowledge of information security frameworks, policies, and best practices, including risk management, incident response, and security architecture design, with the ability to implement these within a large organization.

3. Proven experience in developing and executing information security strategies that align with organizational goals, ensuring the protection of sensitive data and systems.

4. Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including executive leadership, department ISOs, and external entities, to drive security-related projects and initiatives.

5. Strong project management skills, including the ability to oversee the planning, development, and implementation of security technologies, tools, and processes.

6. Experience in monitoring and ensuring compliance with information security policies, conducting audits, and supporting departments in achieving required security standards.

7. Excellent communication and consultation skills, with the ability to advise executive management on security policies, risks, and strategies.

8. Ability to adapt to emerging security threats and technologies, implementing proactive measures to safeguard organizational assets.

9. Knowledge of business technology management and its application in aligning security tools and processes with the agency’s enterprise architecture.

10. Leadership experience in a technology or security role, with a demonstrated ability to manage security initiatives across a complex organization.

Supplemental Questionnaire Instructions

A Supplemental Questionnaire consists of a series of questions and a mechanism for obtaining an applicant’s qualifications and experience in job-related areas. Additional Information

This position is designated as required to file a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700) under the California Health and Human Services Agency Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for the making, participating in the making, or using his or her official position to influence the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on his or her personal financial interests.
