Summer Camp Dietary Restriction Specialist

*Option to live on-site from June through August*

Work in the kitchen of a children's summer camp as a Dietary Restriction and Allergist specialist, ensuring proper labelling of allergens and adequate substitute options for all camp meals.

Responsibilities could include:

• Serving as a leader and point person in the Dining Hall during meals to answer questions about food offerings/ specific ingredients from campers and staff.
• Maintaining intimate familiarity with all of camp’s food offerings and understanding ingredients present in different products.
• Working closely with Head Chef and Salad Bar Staff to ensure robust and varied options at the Salad Bar that honor dietary restrictions present in camp population.
• Working closely with Head Chef and cooks to ensure adequate gluten free/ dairy free/ vegan/ vegetarian options and allergen-free options or substitutions for all camp meals and snacks.
• Ensuring proper labeling of all Dining Hall offerings as dairy free, gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, allergens where applicable. Dietary restriction offerings are to be labeled at every meal.
• Meeting with campers and staff with allergies and dietary restrictions one-on-one as needed to better understand and meet their dietary needs.
• As-needed consultation with camper parents about dietary needs of their campers. Coordinating items parents will supply versus what camp can reasonably accommodate.
• Serving as the “pack out” point person in the Kitchen, which is all “to-go” meals for tournaments, trips, and cookouts. Processing off-site forms regarding cookouts, tournaments, trips, etc. and overseeing Steward and Kitchen Staff to ensure efficient and timely organization of “pack outs.” Ensuring that there are meal substitutions for those with dietary restrictions.
• Serving as “Fourth Meal” point person– a late night food offering for older campers. Ensuring adequate options for dietary restriction campers.

Pay: $700.00 - $1,100.00 per week
