The Donor Relations Manager plays a vital role in advancing the fundraising efforts at Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, and its initiative, the Global Health Advocacy Incubator, by maintaining detailed donor records and providing essential research, strategy, and support to strengthen donor relationships and increase charitable revenue. This position focuses on expanding the individual donor base through stewardship and moves management strategies to identify, qualify, and cultivate donors – building a pipeline for annual, leadership, major, and planned-giving support. Proficiency in Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT is essential for success in this role. This position reports to and supports the Major Gifts Officer.
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH:
- Manages the daily operations of the CRM and fundraising software, Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT, to enhance donor stewardship, communications and relationship management.
- Develops and executes annual giving strategies to achieve fundraising goals outlined in CTFK’s development plan, fostering donor relationships through stewardship, acknowledgments, emails, phone calls, and other outreach efforts.
- Leads donor data management and prospect research to identify and cultivate potential supporters.
- Collaborates with advancement and communications teams to develop and implement annual giving content, ensuring alignment with deadlines, policies, and best practices.
- Implements and evaluates a multi-year individual giving strategy under the direction of the Major Gifts Officer to retain, recruit, and grow donor support.
- Develops and executes donor engagement strategies, including email appeals, personal solicitations, phone calls, meetings, and events.
- Leads prospect research for individual donors and foundations.
- Designs and manages donor recognition and acknowledgment strategies, optimizing Raiser’s Edge NXT for efficiency, including reports and dashboard maintenance.
- Leads internal constituent information management efforts to ensure accurate data and effective communication.
- Supports grant initiatives by identifying, qualifying, and assisting with materials production and submission, particularly for family foundations.
- Oversees third-party giving platforms, including FundraiseUp and workplace giving programs.
- Collaborates with advancement and communications teams to develop donor-focused content for CTFK News, the website, social media, and online action network.
- Manages CTFK’s relationship with Blackbaud and coordinates internal training.
- Oversees the development department calendar and contributes to timeline management.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Participates in Tobacco-Free Kids and Global Health Advocacy Incubator initiatives as needed.
- This position will report to the Major Gifts Officer
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities
SKILLS YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or three to five years of successful development, or related, experience, preferably in a nonprofit or advocacy-oriented setting.
- Curiosity and interest in building relationships with diverse groups
- Experience in donor cultivation practices, including moves management techniques.
- Experience utilizing donor databases or CRM systems; Raiser’s Edge preferred
- Ability to organize workload and prioritize projects for position, team, and organization
- Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and ability to actively cooperate in a team environment, both in leadership and peer relations, and motivate others to do the same
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (including listening, writing, speaking), customer service, and time management skills are essential
- Proficiency with operating a variety of office equipment and computer hardware/software applications, specifically Microsoft Office products, is required.
- Possesses strong proofreading and grammatical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent digital literacy including experience and facility with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Local travel is infrequently required. Overnight travel outside of the area is infrequently required.
