What are the responsibilities and job description for the Horse Farm Worker position at Cane Creek Farm?
Competitive Hunter Jumper Farm is looking to add two members to their team. This job requires handling horses so basic horse/farm experience is required. Come join our team and work in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Family oriented work environment.
Needing someone 4-5 days a week
- Specifically Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
The hours are 7:45am-3:00pm
Must be able to pass a background check.
Responsibilities include:
- Care for and tend to the horse’s basic needs (cleaning stalls, turning out and bringing in, filling/cleaning waters)
- Be responsible for basic grooming and Equine first aid
- Maintain the interior/exterior aesthetic of the barn (including mowing and weed whacking)
- Tacking, untacking and bathing horses
- Cleaning tack and laundry
- Assist with special projects as needed
These tasks get split amongst the team that is working for the day. One person is not required to do all of the above responsibilities in one day. Please keep in mind that this job is physical and we are required to work regardless of weather conditions.
Qualifications
18 years old
Horse experience
Ability to lift 60 lbs consistently
Willingness to learn
Ability to work in a team setting
Ability to work under pressure or in emergencies
Reliable transportation and phone
All initial interviews are conducted via telephone and then there is the opportunity for a two day paid working trial
