A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A UTILITY CONSTRUCTION SAFETY MANAGER
As a Utility Construction Safety Manager, you support initiatives tied to our number one company value. You lead our entire company in meeting our standard of safety 100% of the time. You conduct site visits and audits to ensure that our high standards are being met at all times. Implementing our company's positive safety program, you get to reward employees for doing the right thing. Covering accident prevention and first aid, you coordinate and conduct effective and engaging training programs for personnel. Under your excellent leadership, employees are inspired to be attentive to and promote safety for the benefit of themselves, others, and the community.
Always happy to help, you provide direction and technical expertise to supervisors and managers to help them implement health and safety practices. When there are accidents, near misses, or safety concerns, you conduct thorough investigations. You are conscientious about keeping up-to-date and accurate records and filing reports in a timely manner. With your in-depth knowledge of OSHA, L&I, DOT, and other governing agencies, you are able to maintain compliance. Collaborating with leadership, you also support the development of our safety policies and programs. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A UTILITY CONSTRUCTION SAFETY MANAGER
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health or a related field experience
- Current WA driver's license
- 5 years of experience in a safety-related field
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of construction operations
- Experience in conducting incident fact-finding and preparing detailed reports of findings in order to improve workplace safety
- Support, Maintain and Coordinate DOT/FMCSA Compliance
- Experience presenting information that promotes safety, health, and wellness to large groups
- Leadership ability
Certified safety professional (CSP) or certified utility safety professional (CUSP) certifications are desirable but not necessarily required. Union experience highly desired.
