GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide on campus instruction for the lecture/lab section of BIO205 General Ecology during the Spring 2025 semester (January 21, 2025 - May 16, 2025). The lecture portion of this course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of ecology including the interactions of populations, communities, and ecosystems. Students will be introduced to the techniques of ecological data gathering and analysis. The laboratory exposes students to the field techniques used in investigating different ecological communities, specifically Cape Cod, and emphasizes team-based research. One Saturday field trip is required for the laboratory component. (3 class hours/3 laboratory hours per week).
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes.
- Select and develop appropriate materials for class use.
- Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
- Track and assess student progress based on quizzes, exams, and assignments.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Biology, or related Biology field.
- Experience teaching freshman and sophomore level biology courses, preferably in a community college setting.
- Commitment to the community college philosophy.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
Ph.D. in Biology/Ecology.

COMPENSATION: Anticipated staring salary - Step 1 DCE pay scale. Part-time, non-benefitted MCCC/DCE Unit position.
