GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide on campus instruction to students in the evening lab section of BIO109 Survey of Biology during the Spring 2025 semester (January 21, 2025 - May 16, 2026). The instruction will teach a survey course of biology, the study of life, in one semester. It is designed to conceptually and experimentally explore the processes that sustain life. Major topics include cell biology, adaptation and evolution, genetics and reproduction, ecology and diversity, taxonomy and classification. The course is not intended for science majors.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Provide instruction for the lab component of the BIO109 course, based on the lab manual.
- Coordinate with the instructor of the lecture section.
- Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
- Track and assess student progress based on weekly quizzes, lab exams, and lab reports.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Biology, or related Biology field.
- Experience teaching freshman and sophomore level biology courses, preferably in a community college setting.
- Commitment to the community college philosophy.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues.

COMPENSATION: Anticipated staring salary - Step 1 DCE pay scale. Part-time, non-benefitted MCCC/DCE Unit position.
