GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide on campus instruction to students in Communication course(s) during the Spring 2025 semester (January 21, 2025 - May 16, 2025). The Instructor will teach Human Communication (COM103) which fosters and improves competence in intrapersonal, interpersonal, group, and public communication situations. The Instructor may be invited to teach other communication courses. Students demonstrate skills necessary to communicate effectively through exercises and presentations that reflect practical, real-world situations. The purpose of the course is to improve the student's skill in communication by providing relevant knowledge and opportunities to apply that knowledge.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Provide instruction using active learning methods.
- Select and develop appropriate materials for class use.
- Track and assess student progress.
- Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Post syllabus on Moodle Learning Management System.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Communication or a closely related field with appropriate areas of concentration.
- College-level teaching experience in Communication or equivalent.
- Experience using evidence-based strategies to support student success including frequent communication and active learning.
- Skill in using instructional technologies effectively to support the learning process.
- Experience teaching with a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles to ensure the classroom is designed for a diverse group of learners to succeed.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Teaching at the community college level.
- Skill using MOODLE or other Learning Management System (LMS) to support student learning.

COMPENSATION: Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay Scale. Part-time, non-benefited MCCC Unit position.
