Job Overview:
The Commercial Painter is responsible for applying paints, stains, coatings, and finishes to a variety of surfaces in commercial settings. This includes both interior and exterior surfaces, such as walls, ceilings, floors, and other structures. The role requires knowledge of painting techniques, equipment, and safety standards. A successful Commercial Painter will maintain high-quality standards while adhering to project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Surface Preparation:
- Clean, smooth, and prepare surfaces by scraping, sanding, or priming as necessary.
- Remove old paint, stains, or coatings, and repair damaged surfaces (e.g., patching holes, cracks, and drywall).
- Painting & Coating:
- Apply paint, stain, and other finishes to a variety of commercial surfaces, using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Mix and match colors and finishes to achieve the desired result.
- Ensure smooth and even application and pay attention to details and finish quality.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Follow safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment at all times.
- Use protective gear, including masks, gloves, and goggles, as needed.
- Ensure all materials and equipment meet safety standards and codes.
- Tool & Equipment Maintenance:
- Maintain painting equipment, tools, and supplies in good condition.
- Ensure all tools are cleaned and stored properly after use.
- Project Coordination:
- Work closely with supervisors, contractors, and other team members to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Assist with estimating material requirements and project timelines.
- Customer Interaction:
- Communicate professionally with clients, addressing concerns and requests.
- Ensure the work meets the client’s expectations and specifications.
- Post-Work Cleanup:
- Clean up work areas, dispose of waste materials, and ensure that the site is left in a safe and tidy condition.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (a specialized painting certification or apprenticeship is a plus).
- Proven experience as a commercial painter or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, tools, and materials.
- Ability to work with various types of paints and finishes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical condition, with the ability to stand, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods.
- Knowledge of safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and means of transportation.
Working Conditions:
- Job sites may include both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- The role may require working at heights, such as on scaffolding or ladders.
- May require working evenings or weekends, depending on project deadlines.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
