Overview:
The Hospice Community Liaison plays a crucial role in driving growth and building partnerships by promoting hospice services within healthcare networks and the community. This position focuses on educating referral sources, creating strategic alliances, and generating patient referrals. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of hospice and palliative care, exceptional sales acumen, and the ability to foster relationships in a sensitive healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Referral Source Development: Establish and nurture relationships with physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, case managers, discharge planners, and other healthcare providers to increase patient referrals for hospice and palliative care.
- Educate and Advocate: Conduct informational presentations and meetings with healthcare professionals to increase awareness of hospice services, emphasizing the benefits of hospice care for eligible patients. Ensure that referral sources have a clear understanding of hospice eligibility criteria, benefits, and the services provided.
- Sales Strategy and Market Development: Develop, implement, and manage targeted sales and marketing strategies to increase referral volumes from new and existing sources. Identify potential growth opportunities in the market and work closely with the marketing team to tailor outreach efforts to local demographics and healthcare needs.
- Patient Outreach and Family Support: Work directly with families and patients when needed, explaining the scope of hospice care, answering questions about the services provided, and ensuring a seamless transition for patients referred to hospice care.
- Data Management and Reporting: Track and analyze referral activity, conversion rates, and other performance metrics to assess sales effectiveness. Provide regular reports and updates to leadership regarding market trends, challenges, and referral patterns.
- Collaboration with Clinical Teams: Act as a liaison between sales and clinical teams, ensuring that all new admissions meet the necessary clinical guidelines and are provided with timely and appropriate care. Coordinate communication between hospice admissions staff and referral sources to facilitate patient transitions.
- Compliance and Ethics: Ensure all sales activities adhere to regulatory standards, including HIPAA compliance, Medicare guidelines, and ethical marketing practices. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and hospice-specific laws.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of sales experience in the healthcare or hospice industry is preferred. Strong knowledge of hospice and palliative services and end-of-life care is essential.
- Skills:
- Proven ability to develop and execute sales strategies in a healthcare setting.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with healthcare professionals at all levels.
