What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Controls Technician position at Cardinal?
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a plant resource and be responsible for diagnosing our automated manufacturing equipment, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing solutions
- Have a positive attitude and committed to continuous improvement and success of the organization
- Communicate effectively with manager and maintenance technicians on tasks performed
- Interact with engineers, maintenance, production, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products
- Program PLCs and computers to make equipment safer, faster or more efficient
- Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical panels, equipment, and systems
- Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities
- Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards
- Collaborate and train maintenance technicians and department heads as necessary
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

Required Qualifications:
- Associate Degree or equivalent experience in a related field
- Proven knowledge in working on Robotics, PLC’s, and PC based controls platforms
- Proven industrial controls experience
- Proven knowledge of PLC programming and HMI equipment/platforms
- Proven troubleshooting, testing, and repair of technical equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair with strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience working in an industrial environment or manufacturing setting
- Physically capable of manual labor including standing, walking, lifting, bending, and reaching
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment
- Flexibility to meet varied shift hours, including overtime and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of platforms using Rockwell Automation Software (Allen Bradley) Suite Solutions, Studio 5000, FT View, Beckhoff TwinCAT/EtherCAT
- Strong knowledge and skills Microsoft Office 365, SQL, and Databases
- Competent in network architecture, networking devices, Microsoft SQL server, PC’s, network hardware configuration and database management

Our Tomah, WI plant is home to approximately 400 employees. This facility supplies insulating glass units with innovative functional quality to customers throughout the United States.
