Summary :
A temporary health services specialist is needed for a busy academic department on campus at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
Job Duties :
- Assists the Interim American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center Coordinator in managing the American Heart Association Training Center; this includes representing the AHA Training Center to the university and community; coordinating internal AHA classes in collaboration with HCOM Academic Affairs, Community Health Programs (CHSP), and other OHIO partners
- Assists in managing Ohio University's AHA instructor network including communicating and scheduling with Training Center Faculty, 60 instructors and 15 sites
- Assists the Interim AHA Training Center Coordinator with conducting biennial site visits for instructors in a five-county area
- Monitoring instructor's compliance with AHA certification and requirements
- Scheduling and organizing classes
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of AHA guidelines and course requirements; communicating changes in AHA protocols throughout the instructor network in a timely manner
- Securely distributing course cards and exams to instructors
- Overseeing the AHA database in which all Training Center information is stored, including retaining accurate files and current information on all classes and instructors
- Assists the AHEC Manager / Primary Nurse Planner in the coordination of the submission of continuing medical education (CME) hours for physicians across the state and in clinical education sites
- Maintains organized electronic and paper files of CME submissions
- Submit CME within deadlines documented in policy
- As able, provide additional support to CHP / AHEC staff to assist with administrative tasks
This is a temporary, part-time position hiring immediately and lasting approximately 3 months. The schedule will be 20 hours per week, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with two 8-hour shifts and one 4-hour shift. Pay is $19 to $20 per hour, commensurate with experience.
