What will I do as an Activities Coordinator / Pianist?
- Use the piano to guide residents through familiar songs, fostering community spirit and cognitive engagement.
- Perform piano music during special events, celebrations, and holiday gatherings to enhance the resident experience.
- Plan and engage creative and meaningful life activities, outings, and special events based on residents' abilities and interests, including managing materials, equipment, instructions, guidelines, and space requirements.
- Complete documentation of resident participation, progress notes, MDS’s, assessment/Life Stories, care plans efficiently and adds to behavior plans with the interdisciplinary team as needed per Morningstar Senior Living guidelines.
- Act as a resource to other neighborhoods for programming as needed.
- Escort residents to and from programs.
- Provide guidance and oversight of volunteers in the neighborhood.
- Safely drive community vehicles (car, minivan, and small bus) for resident outings.
- Assists in the care of the neighborhood pets, including cats, fish, birds, dogs, and visiting pets per Pet Program.
- Assists the team in the creation and distribution of informational flyers, weekly calendars, and daily chronicles.
What do I need to be an Activities Coordinator / Pianist?
- Able to play the piano, with experience in performance settings. As part of the interview process, candidates will be asked to play a few songs on the piano to demonstrate their musical talent and ability to engage our residents through music.
- Minimum of one year experience involving activity related engagement, preferably in senior living.
- Valid driver’s license
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, every other weekend and holidays.
