Job Summary:
The Family Health Center Practice Manager oversees all operational and strategic aspects of the Family Health Center, including primary and multispecialty care clinics. This role encompasses service line strategic planning, operational efficiency, financial management, staff oversight, data tracking, and program development. The Practice Manager collaborates with leadership, physicians, and staff to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care and drives performance to meet organizational goals.
Essential Functions:
Operational Management:
- Ensure efficient operation of a multi-specialty medical group practice.
- Collaborate with program chiefs, hospital department leaders, nursing leadership, community leaders, referring physicians, and other stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison between the department and hospital departments (Revenue Cycle, IT, Facilities, Risk, and Quality).
Staff and Physician Management:
- Lead and manage staff, referrals, and physicians, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Recruit, train, and develop staff while setting high work standards and ensuring effective delegation of responsibilities.
Financial Oversight:
- Develop and monitor department budgets to achieve financial targets.
- Oversee the Physician Dashboard and collaborate with providers and the Medical Director to align operational performance with budget expectations.
- Implement compliance with front-end financial policies, including charge posting, cash collection, and patient eligibility verification.
Program Growth and Development:
- Identify practice and business development opportunities to expand the patient base and increase market share.
- Collaborate with the finance leadership on cost/benefit analyses for new services or equipment.
- Advise on provider contract negotiations following hospital guidelines.
Data Assessment and Reporting:
- Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets to track volume, key metrics, and trends.
- Share weekly productivity reports with leadership and stakeholders.
Strategic and Compliance Initiatives:
- Collaborate with hospital compliance and medical leadership to meet regulatory and third-party payor requirements.
- Facilitate compliance with policies and procedures and address potential risk areas.
- Serve on hospital task forces and committees as appropriate.
Other Duties:
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Education/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or business administration required.
- Master’s degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, or equivalent preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
- 5 years of experience managing multi-specialty medical groups or hospital-based ambulatory departments.
