As they expand their operations and explore new avenues for growth, they are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Accountant to join their team.
This individual will play a crucial role in overseeing the accounting for their multiple projects going on at any one time. The position will focus on inventory accounting, job costing, implementing percentage of completion accounting for projects, and financial analysis. This position will be part of an accounting team and work closely with the Accounting Manager and Controller.
Responsibilities:
Inventory Accounting:
- Manage inventory accounting processes, including valuation, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Implement controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of inventory data.
- Collaborate with operations team to optimize inventory levels and minimize carrying costs.
- Participate in physical inventory counts to ensure the accuracy of inventory records
Job Costing:
- Oversee job costing activities to accurately track project costs and margins.
- Develop and maintain cost allocation methodologies to allocate expenses to projects.
- Analyze job cost reports to identify variances and provide insights to project managers.
Percentage of Completion Accounting:
- Implement percentage of completion accounting methods in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor project progress and revenue recognition based on completion milestones.
- Work closely with project managers to assess project status and update revenue forecasts.
Financial Analysis:
- Support other company accountants with costing/expense information and analysis
- Track and analyze variances across products, services, regions, markets, and departments
- Collaborate with Leadership Team to develop margin targets and financial forecasts
- Develop a deep understanding of product pricing including pricing tiers
Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with the Controller and cross-functional teams to improve accounting processes and systems.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement solutions to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends in accounting and finance.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and budgets for senior management and stakeholders.
- Analyze financial data to provide insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements in financial reporting.
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3 years of progressive experience in accounting
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Proven track record of driving process improvements and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
