Estimated start date is May 1, 2025.Salary range: $58,296 to $61,764 per yearThe Chair, Welding Technology will provide leadership and fulfill administrative, instructional, and coordinative duties in the welding division. Includes coordination of day, evening, weekend, off-campus, and online coursework for the division. The position reports to the Applied Sciences Dean and also works with the Workforce and Continuing Education Coordinator to develop, staff, and supervise the Workforce and Continuing Education offerings.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provide oversight of all welding courses including curriculum on-campus and off-campus offerings as well as WCE.Develop and maintain productive relationships with industry and community stakeholders pertinent to departmental programs and prospective graduatesEstablish and maintain an effective program advisory committee Promote an environment conducive to learning and maintaining high professional standards in all face-to-face and online classesExplore and develop new class offerings Administer academic policies and procedures equitablyIdentify, execute, maintain, and assess program objectives and student learning objectives and collect program data as requested by division dean and senior administration Develop action plan for improving student learning and program objectives as indicated by data assessmentPrepare comprehensive program reviews as scheduledCoordinate the requisition of resources and services, including equipment, supplies, facilities, and other materials required for safe and effective departmental operations and delivery of instruction Develop program marketing and recruiting strategies and participate in college marketing and recruiting opportunities and events Advise students according to the college advising modelEvaluate student success needs and refer to resources as needed Participate in student retention, persistence, and success development strategies Supervise and assist part-time/full-time employees in the department and promote a collaborative work environment Enforce college policies and proceduresDetermine staffing needs and establish qualifications, verify, and submit departmental faculty credentialing documentsRecruit, interview, and select full and part-time faculty according to Human Resources procedures, and prepare contracts as needed Assist in the orientation of instructors and evaluate the performance of department full-time and part-time facultyAssign teaching schedules for departmental instructors under workload policy guidelinesAssist instructors with the development of professional goals and objectives and connect with resources as neededAllocate and reallocate funds based on departmental, divisional, and institutional prioritiesMonitor expenditures and provide periodic reports to faculty and senior administrationMonitor inventory of supplies and equipment and place repair and supply ordersPlan annual program budget request including part-time salaries, equipment repair needs, consumable supplies, and other necessary resourcesRevise and update curriculum and ensure the development, use, and publication of appropriate course syllabi and reading schedules, and course materials and maintain currency to industry standardsDevelop an annual schedule in consultation with other divisions and departments and place appropriate textbook and instructional material ordersMaintain appropriate office hours and accessibility for studentsServe on college committees as requested;Attend required campus events including graduation, professional development, & employee meetings.Perform other duties as assigned
