The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Information Technology (IT) to lead and manage Carver Companies’ technology operations across all our locations. This critical role will oversee IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital solutions to ensure seamless operations across our diverse business units in the U.S. and Canada.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director of IT will develop and execute a scalable technology strategy that supports Carver’s growth, operational efficiency, and security. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with the ability to align IT initiatives with business objectives and maintain continuity across multiple regions. This role require occasional travel to company sites domestically and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic IT Leadership
- Develop and implement a company-wide IT strategy that supports Carver Companies’ business goals across all U.S. and Canadian operations.
- Identify technology solutions that improve operational performance, enhance project management, and support customer service.
- Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend proactive solutions that drive scalability and efficiency.
Infrastructure and Systems Management
- Oversee and optimize IT infrastructure across all Carver locations, including networks, cloud services, hardware, and enterprise software.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to evaluate and implement systems that improve data management and operational efficiency.
- Lead the integration and deployment of technology solutions for equipment and fleet management across regions.
Cybersecurity and Compliance
- Develop and implement a comprehensive cybersecurity framework to protect sensitive data and critical infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, cross-border data protection laws, and contractual obligations.
- Conduct regular security assessments and manage risk mitigation strategies.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead and mentor a high-performing IT team that supports operations across multiple U.S. states and Canadian locations.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the IT department.
- Provide professional growth opportunities and career development pathways for IT staff.
Vendor and Stakeholder Management
- Manage relationships with external technology vendors, service providers, and consultants to ensure efficient, cost-effective solutions.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and operational teams to address technology needs and implement solutions across all divisions.
- Oversee contract negotiations for technology services and software licensing.
Budget, Project, and Process Management
- Develop and manage the IT department’s budget, ensuring strategic allocation of resources.
- Lead the planning and execution of IT projects, ensuring timely, on-budget delivery.
- Establish and standardize IT operating procedures and documentation to maintain consistency across all locations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, PMP, ITIL) is preferred.
- Experience: 8-10 years of progressive IT experience, with at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role. Prior experience in industrial sectors such as port and maritime operations, construction, or manufacturing is preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Extensive experience managing IT infrastructure, cybersecurity programs, cloud solutions, and system integrations.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead geographically distributed IT teams across U.S. and international locations.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement technology strategies that align with business objectives.
- Communication: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across different operational areas.
- Travel: Willingness and ability to travel regularly to Carver Companies’ locations in the U.S. and Canada. A valid passport is required.
