Salary Range: $119,787.20 - $155,729.60 FLSA Status: Full-Time (Exempt)
Job Summary:
The Director of Finance oversees all the audit, accounting, general ledger and soft-count functions for the Catawba Nation Gaming Authority (CNGA) at the Catawba Two Kings Casino and ensures that accurate financial information is provided to senior management for decision-making purposes. All functions will be performed within the guidelines of the CNGA System of Internal Controls (SICS), policies and procedures, and applicable regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise all Finance personnel leading the team by following and improving accounting and operational controls of Finance, General Ledger, Accounting, Internal Controls, etc.
- Ensure that the Finance team abides by all internal controls, policies, and procedures during all shifts.
- Develops and implements audits in accordance with the SICS.
- Train Finance team on all procedures involved in completing daily and weekly audit tasks.
- Ensures that journal entries and audits are completed in a timely manner directly or through direct reports.
- Ensures that audits of marketing promotions and programs are completed timely following completion of drawings, promotions, or programs.
- Create a routine review process to ensure that the Finance team is properly following the audit procedures, and internal control requirements and that audited revenues are accurately reflected in financial reporting.
- Responsible for daily distribution of revenue reports to management in a timely manner.
- Assists in month-end closing by accurately and timely preparing gaming revenue, food & beverage revenue, Cage, and other gaming related journal entries and reconciliations.
- Ensure that tax reporting is properly and accurately tracked and that federal and state reporting requirements are met.
- Monitors loan covenant compliance and adheres to required financial reporting related to loan documents.
- Oversees construction loan disbursement request process and reporting.
- Ensures that all regulatory reporting requirements are met for the Catawba Nation Gaming Authority (CNGA).
- · Commission (CNGC), and federal and state regulatory agencies as they apply.
- · Ensures that all periodic audit reports are prepared in a timely manner for internal management, CNGC auditors, and external auditors.
- · Develops new controls, and audits as needed for future new outlet sources of revenue, new marketing, promotions, and other operational changes.
- Prepares NIGC quarterly worksheets and ensures payments are remitted in a timely manner.
- Communicate efficiently and timely with departmental management on audit exceptions, internal control issues, and operational issues.
- Attend routine meetings with the Title 31 Committee, Comp Committee, and other company meetings as required.
- Oversee effective recruitment, hiring, training, recognition, coaching, termination and other employee related issues.
- Assist in other projects as assigned.
- Preform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related area required or equivalent work experience as defined below, preferred.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of Director of Finance level and/or casino finance management experience and at least five (5) years personnel supervisory experience, is required.
- Working knowledge of Title 31 and Bank Secrecy Act regulations.
- Successful candidate must be an experienced, results oriented, and hands-on professional.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be able to evaluate statistical reports and other business reports.
- Must possess an understanding of Finance, Cage, and Count Room processes.
- Must demonstrate leadership, fairness, and sensibility to customers and employees.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of ATI preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees, and customers.
- Must be able to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
- Ability to maintain a professional work environment with supervisors and employees.
- Ability to meet the attendance guidelines of the position and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
- Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Catawba Gaming License.
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Ability to work an alternate schedule as needed.
- Ability to work in a loud fast-paced environment (may occasionally be exposed to second-hand cigarette smoke).
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms; bend to open/use lower drawers or cabinetry; to talk, hear, and see. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
