What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Direct Support Professional position at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St Cloud?
Job Summary:
The Lead Direct Support Professional is a position that will support the Residential Supervisor in the successful operation of the home, communicate regularly with families on routine matters, and provide the on-the-job (“OJT”) training for all new home staff. This position also performs a majority of their time in the delivery of exemplary client care services - role modeling for other staff all aspects of a Direct Care staff. The individual will not participate in On-Call rotation.
Hours: Noon-8:00pm Monday through Thursday, and every other weekend
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for training & mentoring of new hires: Conduct on the job training for new staff; conduct/provide for shadow shifts for new staff.
- Accountable for Communication with families: share routine matters/updates with client families and document in client logs.
- Facilitate the house/home management: review & problem solve any house or staff issues/concerns with Residential Supervisor; create and foster a positive environment/culture at the house on a daily basis and at team meetings.
- Client Care: Maintain responsibility for day-to-day client care via reviewing all communication logs, progress notes, and data sheets; develop a therapeutic and skill building relationship with each client & model this to house staff; provide personal cares for clients as necessary; responsible for planning and/or facilitating leisure activities or client outings; continually assess and reassess client behaviors and assist supervisor in modifying client plans as necessary.
Job Requirements:
Education: High School diploma
Job Related Experience: One (1) year of experience required; one (1) year working with Catholic Charities Supportive Living Services is preferred.
Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required: Must possess a valid driver’s license and must be able to successfully pass a background and driving check.
