Recognizing and appreciating the beauty of the diverse faith backgrounds represented in our student body, the Student Ministry Coordinator guides and occasionally accompanies students as they discover who or what God is in their lives, along with nurturing that relationship through innovative programming. St. Edward High School (SEHS) is a premier private boys’ Catholic college preparatory high school in Lakewood, Ohio. The school was founded in 1949 and is operated in the tradition and charism of the Congregation of Holy Cross. The school has an enrollment of 900 students from a variety of race, economic, and religious strata, within a six-county geographic reach. Position Description The Student Ministry Coordinator assists the Campus Ministry team in leading the spiritual and faith formation efforts of students from a wide variety of religious and spiritual backgrounds in the tradition and charism of the Congregation of Holy Cross. Working closely with the VP of Mission Effectiveness, VP of Inclusion and Belonging, Director of Campus Ministry, Director of Service & Outreach, and the Theology Department, the coordinator works to nurture the faith and spiritual life of the St. Edward community through diverse and high quality liturgical, prayer, and retreat experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities Assists in developing, organizing and implementing spiritual formation programming for students in all high school grade levels, including offering a wide variety of retreats that meet the diverse spiritual needs of our entire student population, along with other related opportunities Work as a point person to develop leadership within the community, focusing on small group development in collaboration with Evangelical Catholic Assist in creating regular opportunities for students, faculty/staff, and other community members to intentionally engage their faith and cultivate their spirituality Engages in regular outreach to non-Catholic students and/or students who may be wrestling with their faith to ensure that appropriate programming is being offered to meet their diverse spiritual needs Collaborates with our St. Andre Program to continue to develop their Best Buddies Program Focuses on continuing to develop faith opportunities for Freshman and Sophomore at St. Edward High School Collaborates with and supports all members of the Faith, Mission & Culture Team in support of sponsored initiatives Assist in developing the peer ministry program, and directs the formation of student leaders within the program Actively invites all students to view themselves as essential members of St. Edward Campus Ministry and as ministers of Holy Cross in their own way Plays an active role in Admissions initiatives and represents the Department of Campus Ministry at many Admissions events
Qualifications Embodies, transmits, and inspires the values of the Congregation of Holy Cross, specifically the mission of educating hearts and minds Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills; is able and willing to lead collaborative initiatives; and is a team player Understands and supports the culture, mission & vision of St. Edward High School Has demonstrated abilities in forming strong relationships with students, colleagues, and other school constituency groups Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or a closely related field; Master’s Degree preferred Is enthusiastic about collaboration with colleagues in coordinating liturgies, retreats, and other major campus ministry events Demonstrates a creative, innovative, and flexible approach to high school campus ministry Understands the complexities and nuances of the Catholic faith, Catholic Social Teaching, and ministries of accompaniment and inclusion in the spirit of the Congregation of Holy Cross Is fully capable of and enjoys having pastoral conversations with students, faculty/staff members, and other community members Is experienced and knowledgeable in liturgical and retreat planning
