Founded in 1947 by Monsignor William Newton, Elyria Catholic High School has been shaping the next generation of saints and leaders for over 75 years. As the only Catholic high school in Lorain County, we take pride in being a close-knit, faith-filled community where students are known, challenged, and supported. With 530 students in grades nine through twelve, we provide a personalized education that nurtures both mind and heart. Essential Job Functions:
- Understand and witness the school and diocesan mission.
- Teach Social Studies courses by implementing the curriculum in accordance with the standards set forth by the Diocese of Cleveland and the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
- Utilize a variety of instructional methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Create a classroom and school environment that enables students to reach their full potential.
- Use student data to inform instructional decisions.
- Integrate technology to improve student learning.
- Commit to continually improving instructional practice.
- Work collaboratively with students and coworkers.
- Communicate proactively and professionally with parents.
- Adhere to school and diocesan policies and procedures.
- Attend school functions as determined by the Principal.
Qualifications:
- Commitment to the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church and to best practices in Catholic education.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Studies, History, or Related Field (Master’s preferred)
- Current Ohio teaching license or willingness to obtain teaching certification
- Energy and enthusiasm for working with and developing students for success in high
school and beyond
- Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education
- Successful BCI and FBI background checks and VIRTUS certified or willing to be
certified.
