Under the general supervision of the Assistant Comptroller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for conducting a professional level of accounting activity with respect to the maintenance of general accounting records, preparation of financial budgetary reports and interpretation of information contained therein.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Reconcile and review purchase requisitions purchase orders, invoices, and authorizations to pay documentation; write checks as required.
· Prepare and input data into the financial system in a timely manner.
· Prepare journal entries.
· Prepare bank reconciliations.
· Prepare and submit financial reports in a timely manner as required by the funding source.
· Analyze monthly financial reports comparing actual vs. budget.
· Verify the accuracy of payroll when requested by supervisor.
· Maintain accurate financial documentation which supports purchases, cash receipts and cash disbursements.
· Preform special financial analysis work as requested.
· Maintain contracts, leases, and related documentations.
· Maintain an accurate filing system of all accounting documentation.
· Assist the Comptroller with the coordination and preparation of the agency single audit and other grantor audits and reviews.
· Other administrative duties, as necessary.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in accounting or related major from an accredited college or university. Two years of accounting experience preferably in fund accounting. Strong computer skills preferred.
